Finding God

The Cornerstone

A Little Boy’s Adventure to Find God

There once was a little boy who longed to find God.

Not just to hear about Him in stories. Not just to read about Him in dusty books. He wanted to know God.To see Him. To feel Him near.

Each night, as stars blinked across the sky, he whispered into the darkness:“Where are You, God? Do You see me?”

His grandmother had once told him:

“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”(Jeremiah 29:13)

So one day, he decided to try.

The Journey Begins

He packed his little backpack with a sandwich, a flashlight, a compass that used to belong to his grandfather — and a stone he had found by the stream. It was rough and gray, chipped and forgotten.

Nobody else saw anything special in it.

But somehow, he knew: this stone mattered.

He stepped into the woods behind his house, whispering,“Lead me, Adonai.”

And as the breeze stirred through the trees, it was as if the forest replied:

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,‘This is the way; walk in it.’”(Isaiah 30:21)

So he followed.

The Forest Deepens

The woods grew quiet. The light dimmed.Strange sounds rustled in the underbrush.

For a moment, fear pricked at his chest. His steps slowed. His heart thumped. He felt very small.

He gripped the stone tightly in his hand and whispered:“Please, God… be with me.”

And in the stillness, a promise rose in his heart:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.”(Isaiah 43:2)

The fear didn’t vanish. But now, he wasn’t walking alone.

The Clearing and the Light

Just when his legs grew tired, he saw it: a clearing with a single rock in the center, warmed by a shaft of golden light. It looked just like his — only bigger, older, glowing faintly from within.

He stepped closer. Kneeling, he placed his stone next to the large one.

They matched — perfectly.

And in that quiet, holy moment, he heard the voice again — not from the sky, but from deep inside his heart:

“The stone the builders rejectedhas become the cornerstone.”(Psalm 118:22; Matthew 21:42)

Tears filled his eyes.

The stone he had carried — the one everyone else had ignored — was part of something far greater. And so was he.

The Voice of the Cornerstone

The light grew brighter, not around him, but within him. And the name whispered into his soul was Yeshua — the one who had also been rejected, yet chosen by God.

He remembered something from the Scriptures:

“See, I lay in Zion a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Himwill never be put to shame.”(1 Peter 2:6)

“He was despised and rejected by men,a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…but by His wounds, we are healed.”(Isaiah 53:3,5)

The boy fell to his knees, clutching his stone to his chest. He didn’t understand everything. But he knew this:Yeshua had found him.

The Names of God

He stayed in the clearing until the stars returned. Then, slowly, he made his way home — no longer just a boy with a question, but a boy with a calling.

He opened his grandmother’s Bible and began learning the names of the One who loved him:

  • Tzur – My Rock (Psalm 18:2)

  • Or HaOlam – Light of the World (John 8:12)

  • El Yeshuati – God of My Salvation (Isaiah 12:2)

  • Adonai Roi – The Lord is My Shepherd (Psalm 23:1)

These weren’t just names. They were doors. They were home.

The Day God Made

The next morning, sunlight spilled through his window.

He stood in the doorway, his little stone in hand, and smiled up at the sky.

“This is the day that Adonai has made;I will rejoice and be glad in it.”(Psalm 118:24)

He knew now:God wasn’t far.God wasn’t silent.God had been with him the whole time.

And Yeshua — the Rejected Stone — was now the Cornerstone of his heart.

His Prayer

Yeshua,You were cast aside — just like my little stone.Just like me.

But You were chosen. And now You’ve chosen me.

You are my Rock when I’m scared. My Light when I’m lost.My Shepherd when the road is long.

You are the Cornerstone of my heart. And I will build my whole life on You.

Amen.
